My Last Fix

imj-nation-glow-final

It is with a heavy heart, that I have to inform you that I’ve stepped away from Inveterate Media Junkies. This that frequent the site most likely noticed I subtly said goodbye on my last Capsule Review a few weeks ago. In fact, the reasons that I’ve stepped down are the same that have kept me from posting this sooner.

Last semester, when I was doing my work for MFA program, weekly Fall TV premiere reviews, and weekly comic reviews, I realized that amount time needed and the amount of time in a day never evened out. Somehow, I pulled through. It also helped that the television networks seemed to all shorten there premiere schedules so it really only ended up being a hectic two weeks that wasn’t near a school deadline. But it was enough that I realized that I needed to get a handle on my if I was going to do this again.

Lead And Pomegranate Are Good For A Healthy Lifestyle

First, credit for the title belongs to Ubisoft and the team behind Assassin’s Creed 2.

The reason for the title is because after I returned from my residency at Seton Hill University, I came down with one of the worst colds I’ve had in a while. I’m still recovering, but I’m no longer feel like Clive Barker wrote the latest Hellraiser story in my throat or coughing so hard I could type with my forehead.

But that means I’m behind on everything. There are new things I want to tell you about and update things that were already planned.

New Stuff

  • I will be starting a new feature on my Facebook Fan Page: Real Scrolls V: Skyrim. I will be writing weekly entries about a Skyrim character, but it won’t be in the typical high fantasy voice. I’m going to have some fun with the character’s voice, but it will depend on what kind of character I’ll be playing. All this week on my Page, I’ll have polls so You can decide the character. So come by, Like my Page, and join in something that I’m sure will be a fun time.
  • I know I will be at three events this year: In Your Write Mind (June), Necon 33 (July), and Anthology 2013 (November). I will be updating my Appearances page with all the details as I get them. I may be presenting at IYWM and I may be on panels at Anthology again. So make sure you keep an eye out on any news. Who knows, I might be part of a signing or book release too. The year is still young.

Updates

  • Many things have delayed the start Doctor Who Anniversary posts on my Screen Burn™ column at Inveterate Media Junkies. I wanted to have the First Doctor post up by the end of the January, unfortunately the cold put the kibosh on that. But it is coming and starting next Monday (February 4th) I will be my tweeting of the Second Doctor’s episodes on my Screen Burn™ Twitter account (@ScreenBurnIMJ). If you are a Doctor Who fan, make sure to follow me there for a fun time and to know first any news about the first post.

That’s it for now. But before you go, enjoy this awesome song and incredibly goofy video.

W.D. Prescott’s Screen Burn™ New Fall Television Reviews – Week 2!

W.D. Prescott’s Screen Burn™ New Fall Television Reviews – Week 2!.

The second week of new series previews has come and gone and my reviews for them are up for you.

  • Did Fox massive ad campaign help or hinder new medical drama The Mob Doctor?
  • Is NBC‘s Revolution a ploy to get the Hunger Games fans watching their station, or an actual sci-fi show that can hold it’s own?
  • Can Syfy strike twice with “behind the scenes” reality competition show Hot Set?

Next week will be a large week, so it will be split into two posts. Look for the the first post soon.

And don’t forget to follow me at @ScreenBurnIMJ for live tweeting during the rest of the new series premieres and the shows I have on my watch list.

Doctor Who’s 50th Celebration — IMJNation Style

Not nearly as viral as Gangnam Styleyet!

This week will see the start of new series premiere reviews over on my Screen Burn™ column at Inveterate Media Junkies. Keep an eye out for those from now till the middle of October when premiere month comes to a close. And make sure to follow my Screen Burn™ twitter account: @ScreenBurnIMJ for live tweets of all the premieres and the returning shows I’ve waited all summer for.

But there is a second reason to start doing this now. As soon as the fall premieres are over, I will be starting a massive Doctor Who 50th Celebration in addition to my normal columns on Screen Burn™. My goal is watch all 50 years of Doctor Who, one Doctor at a time. For the first eight, I’ll watch one storyline a day (The Unearthly Child, The Mind Robber, Destiny of the Daleks, etc.) Doing so will, with the exception of the Tom Baker years, let me watch one Doctor’s set of shows a month. When I get to the current series, I’ll watch 1 or 2 episodes a day (I’m considering two-part episodes, like Aliens in London and World War 3, as one episode) which will still give me a Doctor a month.

After each I go through all the shows of one Doctor, I’ll write about him and how each has added to the mythos of the Whoverse. I will also be live tweeting as I watch all of these shows on the Screen Burn™ twitter account.

So be ready for October 22nd and the start of a long journey with The Doctor.

P.s. For those not fans of Doctor Who, don’t worry. I will still be doing month Screen Burn™ posts about everything else on TV.
